Protection work Principles
$150 per session
This program is not certified protection work. It teaches the foundational principles your dog needs to develop controlled aggression, confidence, and reliable structure for owners who want a predictable, focused companion. It is suitable for dogs needing disciplined outlets and handlers committed to consistent leadership, clear rules, and safe management. This is training for behavior and impulse control—never a substitute for professional, certified protection training or law enforcement work.
What this program delivers
Clear structure: Consistent routines, predictable cues, and established boundaries so your dog understands expectations in every situation.
Controlled aggression principles: Safe exercises to teach bite inhibition, threshold awareness, and redirecting arousal into controlled, appropriate responses under handler direction.
Confidence building: Progressive challenges that raise your dog’s self-assurance without encouraging reactivity or fear-based aggression.
Handler development: Owner coaching on timing, body language, breath control, reward placement, and maintaining calm, assertive leadership.
Safety and management: Equipment guidance (proper collars, leashes, long lines), safe training environments, and protocols to reduce risk during higher-arousal work.
Core components
Foundation obedience: Reliable sit, down, place, recall, and heel under varying distractions. Obedience is the backbone of all control.
Impulse control drills: Wait, leave-it, delayed rewards, and controlled reward delivery to lower unwanted reactivity and build patience.
Arousal modulation: Exercises to raise and lower arousal on cue so the dog can shift between work and rest states predictably.
Targeted engagement: Teaching focused attention on the handler, sustained drive control, and how to follow release cues without fixation.
